Obituary for Mrs Marjorie Epps Marjorie Banks Epps entered eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 1, 2018 in Smithfield, Virginia surrounded by a host of loving family and friends. Marjorie was born on July 22, 1937 to the late Richard Sylvester Banks and Bertha Allen Banks in Norfolk, Virginia and received her formal education in the Norfolk Public School System. Marjorie met the love of her life, Clyde Epps, Sr., when she was eight years of age and he was eleven.

The couple entered holy matrimony on November 5, 1955 and celebrated 53 years of marriage. Marjorie gave her life to the Lord in 1981 and worshipped at New Life Church in Hampton, VA under the ministry of the late Bishop Lawrence Lewis and Pastor Arthur Rogers. She served in numerous ministries until her health prevented her from doing so.

Marjorie led the New Life Church Women’s Fellowship for several years and founded the “Love In- Lock In” event. She sang in the NLC Mass Choir, served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, participated in the Marriage Ministry, Senior’s Ministry, as an Intercessory Prayer Warrior and the Evangelism/Outreach Ministry respectively. Marjorie also served as President of the Tidewater Women’s Aglow Chapter.

Marjorie was quite affectionate with an anointing to uplift and inspire others. She was a matriarch who touched many lives and was well known as “Nana” or “Mama Epps”. She has served as a mother figure to many throughout the years and was known as the “Queen of Hospitality”.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her spouse, Clyde Epps, Sr., daughter, Deborah Richardson, great grandson, Kairi Mason, Jr. and her parents, Richard and Bertha Banks. Left to cherish her warm memories are her children: Sharon, Clyde, Jr. (Sheila), Vernon (Aundrea) Epps, Sabrina (Kenneth) Eddie. Additionally, Marjorie is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and her sister, Bernice Husky and a host of church family and friends.
