Shirley J. Busby, 81, passed away February 28, 2019 in Midwest City, OK after suffering the effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis and a short illness. She was born May 30, 1937 in Belpre, KS to Preston James and Mable Marie Long. She married her husband Oralando (Leon) Busby on August 5, 1955 in Clayton, NM.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Leon, four brothers, LeRoy Long, Donald Long, Gary Long, and Maurice (Butch) Long, two grandchildren, Keri Dyan Day and Cory Busby and an infant great grandson Joshua Day. She is survived by her sisters Mary Ann Clair of Lewis, KS, Myra Morrison and Connie Wilson , both of Stafford, KS; children Susan VanGundy and her husband Rod, of Choctaw, OK, Russel Busby and his significant other, Theresa of Midwest City, and Anita (Joni) Murphey and her husband David of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Cameron Palone of Enid, OK, Brandon and Michele Palone of Lewisville, TX, Kaitlyn Palone and her husband Jonathan Hicks of Midwest City, OK, Tenisha and Will Guevara, Craig and Jenna Busby both of Choctaw, Lacey and Isaac Kraft of Del City, Cassidy and Web Brunsteter of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren Jacquelyne and Olivia Day, Braxton and Cale Palone, Dominic and Tyler Guevara, Mikayla and Colby Busby, Gabby, Shaley, Elizabeth and Isaac Kraft, and Murphey Brunsteter. Shirley attended high school in Lewis, KS, and later, following her husband’s Air Force retirement, graduated from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing.

She enjoyed 20 years as an RN at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. Shirley enjoyed her family and friends above all else. Services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the chapel of Ford Funeral Service.
