Obituary for Ms Lorraine Mary Delgado The life of Lorraine Delgado: Lorraine was born on August 15, 1934 in Indio Ca. , to Jessie Pina and Juanita Bravo. At 7 years old her family moved to Los Alamedos where she attended Laurel Elementary.
Her family then moved to Hawaiian Gardens where she attended middle school and graduated from Excelsior High School in 1952. A few years later, when she was 20 years old, she met her future husband, Pete Delgado, at an outdoor picnic dance gathering in La Puente. They fell in love and the two were wed on June 21, 1958 at St. Boniface Church in Anaheim.
In 1959, Pete and Lorraine began their family in Olive Heights where they raised their two boys, Peter and David. Early in her life she worked the phone switchboards as a PBX operator, and as a receptionist at General Tire. In her later years she worked as a secretary and receptionist at Delgado Fence Company.
Lorraine enjoyed an active and social life. She loved dancing, shopping, traveling, browsing at the mall, and catching a movie with a friend. When she wasn’t in “town” she was happy at her home listening to music on the radio, whistling in the kitchen, drinking a glass of red wine, and watching a good telenovela.
She was a devoted and caring person who made the people around her feel special. She always took the time to call and see how her family and friends were doing. She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones.
Her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Nana, spent many enjoyable summer vacations at her home in Anza. She loved having the family together. The perfect host for holiday dinners and special occasions, she loved to cook and make sure her family was well fed.
She always made all of her family and guests feel welcome. Pete and Lorraine spent many years together and in 2016 celebrated 58 years of marriage. Lorraine Delgado passed away on July 21, 2018 at the age of 83 in Hesperia, Ca.
She is preceded in death by her husband Pete Delgado, mother, father, two sisters, one brother, daughter-in-law, and a grandson. She is survived by two lovings sons, daughter-in-law, two sisters, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of long-time friends. A memorial service will be held for Lorraine on Wednesday, August 8th, at 10:00 am, at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Rd, Apple Valley, CA 92307.
