Myrtle was born on September 16, 1920 in Bogart, Georgia to Roy M. Burnette, her father, and Cora Quarterman Burnette, her mother. She went to high school in Panama City, Florida and graduated from Bay County High School on June 4, 1937. After high school she attended Business College for two years and upon completion she wed Ellis W. Franklin and was married to him for over 50 years until his death on November 14, 1996.
She is preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Nancy Franklin, and her sister and brother-in-law, Eunice and Archie White. Myrtle is survived by her: Husband, Russell P. Roach, Brother, Jack Burnette: Daughters, Karen F. Breedlove and Dolores Rauschl, Son-in-law, Bruce Breedlove, Sister-in-law, Louise Burnette, Six grandchildren, Mark Franklin, Kelli Franklin, Blair Horton, Deak Horton, Jeff Raney and Alexa Raney, Grand daughters-in-law, Brooks Franklin, Channing Raney: Nine great grandchildren, Mabry Franklin, Davis Franklin, Victoria Sutphen, Morgan Sutphen, Nicole Raney, Marshall Raney, Jack Raney, Ferris Raney and Verity Raney. She worked as an Executive Secretary for Amoco Production Company in Midland, Texas and was later transferred to Houston, Texas where she retired on May 1, 1984.
She kept in close contact with her co-workers for many years after retiring. She went to a tea dance at a community center in Sharpstown where she met Russell P. Roach and they married on January 25, 1999 and remained married until her passing. Myrtle was very active in the Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas where she served as the Sunday School Class Secretary and visited the homebound members in the Heart to Heart program.
She loved music, dancing, gardening, socializing and just having fun. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be sincerely missed by all that knew her. There will be a grave side service at 3:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079, Section 15a.
