Obituary for NELL T. GODFREY After experiencing numerous medical conditions and consistently overcoming each of them, Nell T. Godfrey of Hueytown passed away peacefully. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, John H. Godfrey and seven siblings. Everyone who knew her well enjoyed hearing about the escapades that she and her sisters enjoyed.

She was valedictorian of her senior class at Hueytown High School and a lifelong member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hueytown. She was known as “Ms. Nell” by the 4 year olds that she taught at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for 40+ years, while also being the 4 year old Sunday School Director. Because of her outstanding leadership in WMU, she was recognized at an annual meeting for leadership and being a woman of prayer.

Her presence will be missed by so many, and she will be remembered for her servant attitude and heart. She adored her family and is survived by her children, Mike Godfrey (Linda) of Vestavia Hills, AL. ; Randy Godfrey (Robin) of Orlando, FL.

; and Cathy Thompson (Doug) of Mobile, AL. ; her grandchildren Joseph Godfrey, James Godfrey, Jacob Godfrey, Rebecca Deem (Will), John Thompson, and Andrew Thompson; 10 Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home in Hueytown on Monday, June 4, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemtery. Although flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
