Obituary for Nelson E. Wallin Nelson E. Wallin, 93, of Ewing passed away Monday, June 4 at Greenwood House in Ewing, with his daughters at his side. Born in Wallington, NJ, he has been a Ewing resident since 1998. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School – Class of 1942, and Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken.

Mr. Wallin proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1942 to 1946, when he was honorably discharged as a Quartermaster First Class USNR. Son of the late Nils Oscar and Anna (Sklepko) Wallin, husband of the late Ruth A. (Barham) Wallin, and brother of the late Dorothy Lenc, he is survived by his two daughters, Laura Wallin and Karen Fuchs, both of Ewing, and one niece and three nephews. Nelson enjoyed swimming, boating, and fishing at the Jersey shore where he spent summers as a youth.

Later on in his life, he enjoyed the same pastimes with his wife and children. In his retirement, Nelson loved to travel with his wife and visited many places across the United States and Canada. He was a huge lover of all animals, but his favorites were dogs and cats.

Throughout his life, there were always several dogs and cats that were part of the family and he was often caught sneaking one too many treats to the family dogs. Funeral and burial with Navy honors will be private. Arrangement are under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave.
