Nina Louise Cheney, 86, of Blackduck, MN died on September 29, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Blackduck. Funeral Services are pending at this time. Nina was born on December 12, 1931 in Fremont, Michigan, the daughter of John and Cecil (Wright) Hoppa.

She attended schools in Fremont, Michigan and Nyack, New York, graduating in 1950. She married Robert “Max” Cheney on July 19, 1952. Nina enjoyed quilting, homemaking, baking, sharing with others, lefse making, and visiting and playing… Read More » piano at the nursing home in Blackduck.

She was a member of the Cormant Community Church in Cormant Township where her husband was the pastor for 15 years, and the Blackduck Evangelical Free Church. Nina is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah (Richard) Tepkes of Blackduck and Vickie (Richard) Stomberg of East Grand Forks, MN; a son Mark (Sara) Cheney of Jacksonville, AR; 4 sisters, Margaret Yerkie of Satsume, AL, Mary Ellen Sherman, Gladwin, MI, Shelby Foster, Whitecloud, MI, and Sandy Dolan, AppleValley, CA; 8 grandchildren, Karen (Mitch) Johnson, Craig Tjepkes, Cheryl (Joe) Wilhelmi, Cy (Jessica) Cheney, Thomas (Olivia) Cheney, Erica (Neal) Anderson, Melissa (Bob) Reimer, and Caleb (Lindsey) Stomberg; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephew and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Max” Cheney; her parents, John and Cecil Hoppa; 4 sisters, Virginia Strom, Josephine Artlip, Dorothy Ford, and Lena Mosher; and one brother, Lloyd Hoppa.
