Obituary for Norbert E. Kassing Norbert E. Kassing, 68 years old of Red Bud, IL. , born November 26, 1949 in Belleville, IL. , died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, IL.
Norb was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, IL. He graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1967 and SIUE in Edwardsville in 1971. He was a retired Athletic Director and Teacher for New Athens High School for 35 years.
He was a Past President of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association and member of the Red Bud High School Board of Education. He was a IHSA Basketball official for 30 years, member of Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, avid golfer, and member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame. Surviving are his wife, Janel Kassing, nee Scheffert of Red Bud, IL.
; his Son, Nicholas (Sarah) Kassing of Red Bud, IL. ; his Daughter, Chrystie (Scott) Schoenbeck of Red Bud, IL. ; his Grandchildren, Grace, Hannah & Lydia Schoenbeck, Noah, Sydney & Natalie Kassing; his Dear Friend, Jill Healey of Australia; his Brother, Gilbert (Barbara) Kassing of TX.
; his Brother-In-Law, Calvin Bradley, his Sisters-In-Law, Shirlene Kassing & Vickie Heller; his Brother-In-Law, Mark (Donna) Scheffert; his Mother-In-Law, Darleen Scheffert, nee Krause, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by Parents, Albert & Lillian, nee Johnson, Kassing, Sr.; his Sister, Mary Bradley; his Brother, Albert Kassing Jr., his Brother-In-Law, Dale Heller & his Father-In-Law, Elroy Scheffert. Visitation will be on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, IL, and on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, IL.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, IL. , with Pastor Mark Nebel, Pastor Russell Koen & Pastor John Lukomski, officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, IL.
