Norma LaCross Bean, 88 of Boyne City, died March 26, 2019 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. Norma was born September 25, 1930, the daughter of Elmer and Agatha LaCross. Norma raised 5 children while working and living in Lexington, KY and then she met the love of her life.

In July of 1974, she married Loren “Larry” Bean. Together, they shared many happy years, mostly in Pinkney MI, having parties in the barn! Eventually they retired to Boyne City.

There they enjoyed going to garage sales with Sally and Mary and mushroomin with Joanne. Norma was extremely active during her retirement. She loved taking on part time jobs.

One of her most special job adventures was working at The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. She enjoyed crafting, reading and crocheting. She hiked to the top of Avalanche Mountain almost every day.

More than anything, she loved to travel and visit her family all across the United States. Whether she was in Alaska with Linda or London with Paula or on a lake in Michigan with Lora, Dorothy, Sandy, and her grandchildren, or who knows where with her sister Alice (probably seeing her other siblings, Al and Lora) she was always wanting to go! Norma is survived by her four daughters, Lora (the late Paul) Nicholas, Linda (Scott) Swanson, Dorothy (Bobby) Zimmerman and Paula (Len) Groulx; her siblings, Alice Patricko, and Al (Jill) LaCross; her step-children; Nicole (David) Hatfield, Lori Bean, Jeffery Bean (Paul Hoey) and Jodi (Andrew) Plackowski; her grandchildren, Paul, Carol, Rachel, Cindy, Kristen, Jamie, Bryan, Caleb, Jennifer, Jason, Ashley, Samantha, Keith, and Chad; her great grandchildren for which she had many; She is preceded in death by her son, Allen Jones; her husband, Larry Bean; her siblings Lora, Lee and Paul.

There will be a memorial gathering at a later date when Norma’s remains will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Evaline Township Cemetery. Stackus Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
