Norma Jean Martin October 27, 1934 – April 18, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Norma J. Martin of South Hutchinson, 84, died April 18, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born October 27, 1934, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Alpha J. and Ida M. (Bontrager) Kauffman. A graduate of Hesston Academy, Norma worked in banking, first in Yoder and then Central State Bank and Trust in Hutchinson.

Norma went on to be Assistant to the Director of Finance and Operations at Hutchinson Community College. Upon retirement, Norma enjoyed gardening, quilting and traveling with Dale in their RV. On September 6, 1953, she married Dale Martin in Yoder.

She was preceded in death by Dale (March 12, 2015); her parents; and brother Carl Kauffman. Survivors include: children, Becky Lingafelter and husband Dan of Wichita, Rod Martin and wife Billye of Springdale, Arkansas, Renetta Frisque and husband John of Colcord, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce and husband Bill Brenneman of Fishers, Indiana, Eva and husband Del Steider of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and several nephews, nieces and their families. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Journey@South Hutchinson, 808 S Poplar, South Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Howard Wagler officiating.

Friends may sign the book at the mortuary until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hesston College, Mennonite Friendship Communities, or Journey Mennonite Church, all in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
