Norma Jean Mayfield Fox Smith, age 88, of Morgantown, passed away early Saturday morning, May 5, 2018 at Mon Health Medical Center. Born November 5, 1929 in Shriver, WV, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Franklin “Jake” Mayfield, the late Nancy Josephine Moran Mayfield Barrett, and a step-daughter of the late Charles Barrett. Survivors include her five children, Melinda Shuppe, Barbara Fox, Pam Floyd and her husband Brad, Chuck Fox and his wife Dottie and Darrell Fox and his wife Glenda all of Morgantown; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and step-father, she was preceded in death by her husbands Robert Gale Fox and Raymond Smith; three sisters, Myrtle Mayfield, Lucille Foster and Phyllis Eddy; and one brother, Robert Mayfield. Private visitation and funeral services will be held for the immediate family at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care of Morgantown, with interment to follow in the Olive Cemetery, Pentress. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the second-floor staff of Sundale Nursing Home and the staff of Floor 6 North at Mon Health Medical Center for their compassionate care shown to Norma Jean.
