Norma Louise Knecht, 94, of Connersville, passed away Tuesday morning, December 4, 2018 at the Heritage House of Connersville where she had been a resident since March 29, 2017. She was born January 11, 1924 in Franklin County, IN, one of seven children of Clarence and Anita Kuehn Amhrein. On November 25, 1943, she was married in St. Michael Church, Brookville, IN to Clayton “Bud” Knecht.

During WW II, while her husband was serving with the U. S. Navy, she moved to Seattle WA and worked at a war production factory as a Rosy the Riveter. Following the war, they returned to Franklin County where they farmed for 49 years retiring in 1994 and moving to Connersville for residence. Mr. Knecht passed away on March 28, 2007.

She was a member of St. Gabriel Church in Connersville. In her leisure, she was an avid hand stitched quilt maker and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Survivors include four children, Carolyn Rosenberger, of Connersville, Dr. Marlene (Carroll) Smith, of Colorado Springs, CO, Dr. Michael (Lou) Knecht, of Kensington, MD and Steven (Karen) Knecht, of West Lafayette, IN; three grandchildren, Gina (Eric) Gutierrez, of Dayton, OH, Josef Knecht, of Augusta GA and Dr. Samuel Knecht, of Baltimore, MD; a great-granddaughter, Abby Gutierrez, of Dayton, OH; a brother, Raymond (Evelyn) Amhrein, of Brookville, IN; two sisters, Dorothy Boyle, of Newberry, FL and Donna (Harold) Back, of Brookville, IN.

She is blessed with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband of 63 years, Clayton Knecht, she is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Ruth Kirschner, Betty Glaub and Rita Riehle. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM, Friday, December 7, 2018 at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, IN with Reverend Vincent Lampert officiating.

Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 until 11 AM, Friday. A Rosary service will be recited at 11 AM that morning.
