OBITUARY Norman Alfred Martin March 6, 1925 – November 11, 2018 Norman Alfred Martin, 93, of Lakeland, Florida, passed peacefully on November 11, 2018. He left his earthly world to join the love of his life – Annabell – his parents, siblings and many friends in his heavenly home. Norman served his country in World War II.

He was on the Susan B. Anthony transport ship when it hit two magnetic mines and sank off the coast of Omaha Beach. He was rescued and made his landing in Normandy, France on D-Day 2, June 7, 1944. He was a medic and followed the 2nd Armored Division led by General George Patton from Omaha Beach through France, eastern Belgium into Germany.

Norman was preceded in death by this wife Annabell, his parents Arnold and Inez Martin, brothers Tom, Robert, Russell, Harold and Elliott and sister Patricia Allen.
