OBITUARY Norman Dixon Richardson April 7, 1923 – October 18, 2018 Norman Dixon Richardson, born April 7, 1923 in Nanimo, British Columbia, Canada, son of Robert and Amelia Richardson, has passed away with his family beside him. Norman lived his early life in Nanimo, B.C. and Enumclaw, WA. He graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1941.

Norm joined the US Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941 and spent nearly ten years in various campaigns all over the world during WWII and the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he attended Western Washington University (then College of Education) where he me his soulmate, Shirley(Hovik) Richardson. They married in 1955 and together raised two children, Leslie (Lauer) and Robert Richardson.

Norm was known as an outstanding athlete in football and track & field in high school and at Western where he lettered four years playing both way in football. After his graduation from Western, he taught high school and coached threes sports in Olympia, WA. A few years later Norm joined the Operators Union and worked for Manson Construction and Manson-Osberg for 30+ years.

These projects took Norm all over Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Norm enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his brothers. He and Shirley had much joy with the time they were able to spend at their cabin in the Tearaway Valley with family and friends.

His greatest pride was his family. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Amelia Richardson; his brothers David Leslie, Walter, Royston; and his wife of 63 years Shirley Kathrine (Hovik) Richardson. He is survived by his children, Leslie (Doug) Lauer, and Robert (Pam) Richardson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Travis) LaMie, Robert (Kelly) Richardson, Jessica Lauer, Melissa Lauer, Anthony James Richardson, Michael and Jordan Godsey; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Trenton, Rylan, Hartley and Kaeson.

In lieu of flowers, Norman would appreciated donations made toward the Marysville YMCA. A celebration of life for Norma and Shirley will be held at the Everett Golf and Country Club at 4:00 PM on November 20, 2018.
