Mr. O. G. Carney, Jr., 73 of Quitman passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Carney was born August 31, 1945 to the late O. G. Carney, Sr and Ruby Lee Kent Carney. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was owner of Carney Saw Shop.

Mr. Carney was a member of Quitman First Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his children, Denny (Patricia) Carney of Jacksonville, FL, and Wendy (Ben) Graham of Morven; grandchildren, Robert Wood of Lynchburg, VA, Luke Carney of Valdosta, Alayna Carney of Gainesville, FL, Payden Graham of Morven, and Bryton Graham of Morven; great grandchildren, William Wood and Jonathan Wood of Lynchburg, VA; brother, Raymond (Donna) Carney of Clyattville; and one sister, Sybil (Raymond) Griffin of Hahira, GA. Mr. Carney was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher Neil Carney, and Gregory Bishop Carney.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Quitman First Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Roberson, and Rev. Steve Shierling officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home.
