He was born December 12, 1926 in Edgehill, Missouri to Arthur Emmit and Laura E. Moses Hayes. He and Rose Mildred Brewer were married He served in the US Marine Corps and was a Korean Veteran.

He was a Truck Driver for General Material for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 133 and he loved fishing and cutting wood. He was of Christian Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Mildred Hayes of Perryville, Missouri; two daughters, Velma Jean (Terry) Craft of Perryville, Missouri and Tammy (Wayne) Hahn of Perryville, Missouri; three brothers, Floyd Hays of Waterloo, Illinois, Jim Hayes of High Ridge, Missouri, Eual Hayes of Perryville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Cody Heim, Tyler Heim, Mindy Hahn and Brittney Stueve, six great-grandchild, Camryn Heim, Kennley Heim, Hollie Heim,Lucas Stueve, Emmit Stueve and River Stueve. He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura E. Hayes, father, Arthur Emmit,three brothers: Homer Hayes, Jackie Hayes and Herschel Hayes; and one sister, Fern Cheney. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Service will be at 7:00 pm Monday, May 6, 2019 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with the Rev. Steve Francis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Your Own Choice. Ford & Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
