Oleta Beatrice Roberts September 07, 1930 – April 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Oleta Beatrice Roberts died Saturday, April 20th, 2019 at St. Peter Providence Hospital. She was 88 years old. Oleta was born one of fifteen children on Sept.
7, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William Harrison Ford and Ruth Piety Julian Ford. She was a loving and faithful wife of nearly 60 years to Donald Roberts, who preceded her in death on July 13, 2009. They lived in the Olympia area, where they enjoyed nearly sixty wonderful years of marriage.
Together they had two sons, Emery E. (Seattle) and Kenneth L. (Olympia); and two daughters, Sharon K. Hills (Valley, Alabama) and Patricia Ann, who preceded her in death. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Mildred Humphrey (Lincoln, Nebraska), Virgie Trammall (Fairfield, California), and Donna Martin (Modesto, California); and one brother, Don Ford (Modesto, California).
Preceding her in death was her dad, William Harrison Ford; mother, Ruth Piety Julian Ford; her six brothers, Charles Erwin, William Howard, Harvey Harmon, Richard Orval, Almon Arnold, and Virgil Vaughn. Also preceding Oleta in death were her four sisters, Harriet Lucille, Mary Belle, Ivie Loretta, and Avie Lorene. Oleta was well known with her husband Don as avid boatmen as they spent many years as influential members of the Olympia Yacht Club with their boat “Remember”.
Oleta paved the way for women as she became the first female bus driver for the Olympia School District, where she worked for fifteen years and served several years as the union steward. Oleta showed a great deal of pride in her job as a bus driver and set a positive example for her fellow bus drivers and the students she was responsible for every day. She made a difference in the life of every child she transported.
Oleta enjoyed gardening, cooking, embroidery, and boating. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held on May 18th, 2019 at 839 Fenske Dr. NE, Olympia, WA from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
