ORBITUARy Oleta Pauline tusk Erby was born in Pontotoc County, Mississippi on November 10, 1924 to the late Lonnie Bell Lusk. She confessed hope in Jesus Christ at 9 years old at Rob Chapel in Mississippi under the leadership of Rev. Joe Crawford.

In 1940 she was united in marriage to the late Joe N. Erby, to whom 5 children were born and now survives her: Reanie Graves, Joe E. Erby, Effie L Jones, Alma J. Worsham, and Fred L. Erby; along with one granddaughter whom she raised-Peggy Bynum, 10 other grandchildren, and a host of great and great great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Slaughter and several nieces, nephews and friends. For over 70 years, she lovingly served the late Fletcher and Joanne Johnson and their 4 children, who survive her: Mark Johnson, Eric Johnson, Steve Johnson, and Katie (two shoes) Johnson Wilson. She lived her life as a dedicated loving and caring servant of the Lord to her family, friends and people in general who had a need.

That dedication was especially rendered in two churches where she had long term membership since 1963. The first was Tabernacle Baptist under the late Rev. Rogers Pruitt, Sr. where she served as President of the Pastor’s Aide Club, a member of the Usher Board, the Missionary Society, Sunday School Teacher, and NBC Group Leader.

Later she joined New Salem M.B.C where she served under the Rev. Dr. Frank E. Ray, Sr. where she served until her health failed in the last 5 years. There she served as President of the Missionary Society, President of Ttl-Guild, Sunday School Teacher, New Membership Teacher and Prayer Counselor.

We praise you our gracious Savior For giving us such a strong, brave, faith filled, loving mother and woman. Who was relentless in the face of many difficulties and challenges. We love you Mother!

We love and trust You, our sovereign Lord As You have now given her rest with You at last! We love You, our Blessed Redeemer! !
