Oliver F. Knoebel, age 79, of Glenwood City, WI died Wednesday January 9, 2018 at Glenhaven Inc. with hospice. Oliver was born September 23, 1939 in Glenwood City, WI to Frederick and Dora (Tofson) Knoebel with midwife (Mrs. Barr). He attended the Beaver Valley 3 miles from the farm house and later at the Downing Elementary.

Oliver and his sister Karen would… Read More » make roads in the dirt in the driveway and play with his cars, trucks and tractors until their dad would drive over it so they would make the roads again.

At 11 years old they moved as a family to Englewood, CO for 9 months for his mother’s health. This is were he became fascinated with trucks he would lay on the board walk on the side of the road to check out the underneath of semis as they drove by. They later returned to the Glenwood City area as a young adult and wanting to go into farming.

The family started raising dairy cows, pigs and chickens where he would help with chores before and after school. He was involved with FFA and played the Trumpet while attending and graduating from the Glenwood City High School. He enrolled in the Humbolt Institute in Minneapolis for 9 months focusing on the airline industry.

Until entering the US Army from 1961 to 1964 where he was stationed in Germany. When he returned he went to work with his father o the farm before he starting driving truck over the road finishing his driving career at Logghe Trucking. Oliver was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hersey, WI until 1991 when he transferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church for the past 27 years.

He loved collecting model farm implements and trucks. Oliver is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Mabel. Oliver is survived by his sister Karen Soehl, niece Teresa (Chet) Schlaman, nephews Darrell and Jeremy Soehl.

Great niece and nephew Joshua and Myranda Schlaman. Other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday January 13, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodville, WI with Reverend Wayne Hilgendorf officiating.

Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood City, WI. Friends may call at the church on Sunday one hour prior to services. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
