Omie Oneita Gay Padgett, 93, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, May 30, following an illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Saturday, June 1, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial at Friendship Church Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 6:00-9:00P.M. A native of Rhine, Ms. Padgett was the daughter of the late William Reuben Gay and the late Mary Leola Ray Gay.

A homemaker, she formerly worked with the Telfair County Board of Education and was a member of Blockhouse Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Helen (Carlton) Bowen of Jacksonville, Christine (Harry) Gay of Garfield and Omie Scott of Baxley; grandchildren, James (Cindy) Bowen, Annette Merrier, Enola (John) Protcor, Joy Scott, Elon Scott and LeAnn (Jose) Santos; great-grandchildren, Tyler (Ginny) Bowen, Lindsey Bowen, Ethan Merrier, Conner Merrier, Ada Godwin, Ana Godwin, Erin Proctor, Jimmy Proctor, Henry Proctor and Treasure Conley; and two great-great-grandchildren.
