OPAL C. MCALISTER On the morning of October 10, 2018, Opal C. McAlister, age 98, passed away with her two loving daughters, Karen and Pam, at her side. She was born on May 14, 1920 in Hoquiam, Washington. She was the sixth of six children born to Halvor and Mary Christensen.

When Opal was two the family moved to Callahan, Ca. settling into a log cabin in Grouse Creek. She married Harold R. McAlister on August 2, 1938 and they moved to Bayside California where she lived for 79 years until the last year when she moved to assisted living.

Opal worked as a bookkeeper for Harold’s lath mill. Opal was a member of the Eureka Christian Women’s Club since 1981. She was predeceased by her husband Harold and her 5 siblings, Helen Tupper, Curtis Christensen, Esther McAlister, Myrtle Anderson, and Millie Brown.

She is survived by her daughter Karen and her husband John Baddeley and their five children Tamara and Jason Rhoads, Ryan Barker, Lorraine Baddeley, Olivia Baddeley, and Clint Baddeley. Daughter Pam and her husband Steve Gile and their two children Trevor and Julie Gile, and Kelsey and Austin Andrade. Her eight great grandchildren Tyler and Jessie Rhoads, Brodie Barker, Audrey and Bryce Gomes, Karaleena and Asher Andrade, and Idaleane Gile.

Niece and nephews Joanne Smith, Ross Anderson, Judy Rice, Clista Lewis, Shiela Brown, and Dale McAlister. Friends and family are invited to a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Arcata, Ca. on Oct.

20th at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at the home of Karen Baddeley in Eureka, Ca. Arrangements are under Paul’s Chapel of Arcata, Ca.
