Oscar Elmer Armstrong, 93 of Warren Township, died Friday, November 9, 2018, at his home. He was born February 25, 1925 in Junction City, Ohio the son of the late Oscar Ebenezer and Ellen Rachel Dean Stinger Armstrong. Oscar began his working career of over 42 years as a carpenter at Bruss Lumber in Warren.

He then worked at W.B. Gibson Construction Company and Jack Gibson commercial construction as a master carpenter, retiring in 1990. He just received his recognition for being a 70 year member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union. He thoroughly enjoyed carpentry work around the house and built his own home in 1960.

Oscar was a member of the Tod Heights and Niles Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed spending winters in Wildwood, Florida. Oscar loved restoring older and antique automobiles and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia D. Armstrong of Warren Township; one sister, Betty Lou Ouchley of Farmerville, Louisiana and several nieces and nephews. His wife of 54 years, Beverly Jane Cady Armstrong, whom he married December 12, 1946 preceded him in death Dec. 18, 2000.

One brother, William Samuel Stinger and three sisters, Mary Adaline Stein Danley, Thelma Ilene Hoffacker and Virginia E. Armstrong also have preceded him in death The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the chapel at Pine Knoll Cemetery in Warren Township, where burial will take place. Mr. Jeff LaBuda will officiate.
