Pamela Jane Kettis Gay, Age 59 April 20, 1959 – March 10, 2019 Pam Gay passed away surrounded by family on Sunday morning, March 10th after an extended illness with cancer, a very rare form of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). She fought courageously as she battled AML for the past 16 months. This was Pam’s second blood cancer; her life was saved through a bone marrow transplant in September 2010 when her generous and loving sister, Beth Lundberg, donated her bone marrow, a procedure that enabled Pam to live an additional eight years.
Pam was preceded in death by her father, John William Kettis (1993), and her middle son, Patrick Ryan Gay (2007). She is survived by her mother, Anita Beverly Cheronis Kettis (age 91), her husband for the past 37 years, Thomas Joseph Gay, her oldest son, Christopher John Gay (Kendall), her youngest son, Eric Thomas Gay (Sarah), two grandchildren, Parker Ryan Gay (age two) and Wylie Marie Gay (age six months). In addition, she is survived by four sisters, Terry Kettis (John), Beth Lundberg (Michael), Vickie Poole (Bill), and Diane Becker (Joe), several nieces and nephews, one great nephew, one great niece, and her mother-in-law, Anne Harrington Gay (age 92).
Pam graduated with honors from Warren Area High School in Warren, PA in 1977 (Go Dragons! ). She graduated cum laude in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from what is now Edinboro University.
She was a Registered Nurse (RN) for 37 years prior to her latest illness. For the past 30 years of her career she was employed as an RN at Fauquier Hospital. From 2001 to 2018, she was the Employee Health Nurse at Fauquier Hospital, with certifications in Occupational Health and Case Management.
Pam was unfailingly cheerful and upbeat, never losing her faith and spirituality, even in the face of the disease that took her life. People naturally gravitated to Pam. Her radiant smile and infectious laugh were beloved by everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
