OBITUARY Pat Durward September 8, 1940 – December 7, 2018 Patricia Kelley Durward died on December 7, 2018 in Birmingham, Alabama after a short illness. She was the loving wife of Gerard J. Durward and wonderful mother to G. John Durward, Jr. (Anne) and Michael P. Durward (Melissa), daughter of Vinita H. Kelley and sister to James Kelley. She was predeceased by her father, Howard Kelley.

She also leaves behind numerous friends and family whom she loved dearly. Pat was born in South Dakota on September 8, 1940, but grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University.

Following graduation she moved to Birmingham, Alabama to work for the Social Security Administration. It was here that she met the love of her life, Gerry, and they were married for 53 years that were filled with family, friends, laughter, dancing and adventure. Pat worked side by side with Gerry, and later her son, John in their law firm and she made sure the office and home ran seamlessly.

Pat was a past President of the Birmingham Bar Auxiliary and was active in the Birmingham Music Club Guild. She was known for being a gracious lady who touched everyone she met with her kindness and grace. The family will receive friends and family at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, Homewood, Alabama on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, for the visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and the rosary at 6:30 p.m..

The funeral mass will be on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church. The burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Catholic Family Charities, Greater Birmingham Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
