Pat’s Obituary Pat Junior Swett, 65, of Fairbury passed away May 11, 2019 at Bryan East Medical Center. Pat was born to Max and Norma (Horak) Swett on May 17, 1953 in Fairbury. He spent nearly his entire life on a farm near Powell, NE.

He attended country school in Powell and graduated from Fairbury high school in 1971. As a youth, Pat was an active member of FFA and received the American Farmer designation for his service and commitment to the Future Farmers of America. After graduation, he began farming near Powell, Nebraska.

He encouraged a love for farming in future generations both serving in the Young Farmers organization and also instilling a love for agriculture in his grandsons. He served on the Plymouth Co-Op board for a number of years. He enjoyed spending time at the sale barn in Fairbury, watching Husker football, and spending time with family and friends.

Pat married Marlene Wiemers on June 19, 1998. He lovingly embraced Marlene’s two daughters upon this union and poured himself in their lives and all of the things that come along with raising girls, prom dress shopping, marriages, and grandchildren. He was baptized as an adult at Immanuel Stateline Lutheran Church.

He was a kind, patient and generous soul that will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Marlene of Fairbury, step-daughters Krystal Jackson and husband Tony of Milford and Kandi Seeman and husband Derrie of Wymore. Grandchildren Devan Ideus, Xander, Alex, and Axel Seeman, Brenna and Zane Jackson.

Brothers Bob (Cindy) Swett of Falling Waters, WV, Mike (Geralyn) Swett of Alexandria, VA, Jack (Liz) Swett of Aurora, CO, Tim (Sandy) Swett of Lincoln, NE, Kin (Sara) Sweet of Suwanee, GA and sister Gena Swett of Arlington, TX and several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church – Fairbury, NE with Pastor Douglas Hileman officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8pm.

Memorials will go to the family’s choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of the arrangements.
