Pat Va Leer , December 11, 1941 — March 01, 2019

Tuxton Patrick “Pat” VanLeer 77, Lifelong Boise City resident passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at Cimarron Memorial Hospital. The son of Esther Mae (Quakenbush) and Max VanLeer was born on December 11, 1941 in Boise City, Oklahoma. Pat attended school in Kenton and Boise City, finishing his last two years of high school in the Army.

While serving in the Army, his duties were a Helicopter Mechanic and Jet Engine Technician. Pat and Dorothy Jean (Williams) were united in marriage by Harold James, on August 20, 1968 at the First Baptist Church. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter Melissa Dawn on October 13, 1970.

He received his Associates Degree in Electronics at Amarillo College to further his education. He then started working for GTE (General Telephone Company) which later became PTCI (Panhandle Telephone Company) for 26 years and retired in 2003 at age 62. He had many interests over the years which included collecting antiques, fishing, hiking and hunting arrowheads, bicycling, and visiting with his friends at the café each day.

But nothing compared to his love of spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, and great grandkids. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He was survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Jean VanLeer, his daughter, Melissa Spell, sister, Linda VanLeer, all of Boise City, two grandchildren, Justin and Destiny Spell, and two great grandchildren, Ely and Kynlee Spell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard VanLeer, and Leon VanLeer. Viewing will be Tuesday, March 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Henson-Novak Funeral Directors Boise City with the family being present for visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Wednesday morning March 6, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church 103 North Cimarron Avenue with Rev. Trevor Bulls Pastor Officiating.

Interment will follow in Boise City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church P.O. Box 40 Boise City or may be dropped off at funeral home. Friends may sign the online guest book or leave a condolence at www.
