Obituary for Patricia A. McCandless Patricia A. McCandless, age 79, of Clintonville, Ohio, passed away November 19, 2018. She was born March 16, 1939 in Middletown, Ohio to the late Max and Winnie McCandless. Pat was a graduate of Franklin High School; Miami University where she received her BS in education and Indiana University where she received her Masters of Library Science.

Pat was the assistant director of the Life Science Council Libraries at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where she facilitated the communication between the administration and staff and was the head of Applied Life Studies Library for 20 years. She worked for Ohio State University for 15 years as the Assistant Director of Libraries. Within her many areas of accomplishments, her publications included, “Application of Methodology Analyzing User Frustration,” and “Sports and Recreation,” Selection of Library Materials in Applied and Interdisciplinary Fields.

During the latter part of her life, after retirement, Pat was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. During this time, she was loved and cared for by neighbors, a childhood friend, colleagues, and several caregivers. She was deeply respected and treated as a cherished family member by every caregiver who had the privilege to assist her.

We will miss Pat’s engaging smiles, her twinkling eyes, and her inspirational words. As caregivers, we held Pat in high esteem as our friend and mom. We are rejoicing with her as she enters into heaven where she can once again walk, talk and even dance in jubilation.
