OBITUARY Patricia Sparling Burns June 18, 1927 – November 15, 2018 Patricia Sparling Burns June 18, 1927 – November 15, 2018 It is with sadness, but also joy, that we tell you that Dad’s “Moonbeam” has joined him in heaven. Our Mom was born and raised in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan where she met Dad while he was on a short assignment there. After only a few dates, they were married, and their life adventure began.

Dad was an Air Force fighter pilot, so their lives were filled with many moves and good friends throughout the world, eventually making Carmichael our home in 1972. Mom was a most classy and elegant lady, she was the perfect hostess known for delightful and beautiful dinner parties, and she had a quick wit with perfect delivery. She was sharp, beautiful and fun.

Both Mom and Dad were professionally trained singers, and they sang together often. We all knew, however, that Mom was the more natural entertainer! Mom sang in many musicals throughout her life as well as in many choirs.

She was also a great director of singers, and directed the children’s choir of over 50 students at St. John the Evangelist School well into her 80’s. (We think she was that old anyway, but we were never allowed to ask. ) In her later years, she still entertained us with classic songs while making sure that we all sang on key for Christmas caroling.

Mom was a pretty great lady, and we will sure miss her, but we know that her “Irish Eyes are Smiling” for sure – now that she and Dad are together again singing for the angels. Mom was preceded in death by our Dad, Bob Burns, and by her sister Isabel and brother Bill. Left behind to carry on with our Christmas caroling are her daughter Ellen and her husband Chris Gemma; son Bill Burns; daughter Laurie and her husband Don Brunelle; grandkids Danny Gemma and his wife Melissa; Jackie and her husband Joey Oxford; Colleen Sullivan; Jillian and her husband Zach Forehand; and Sam Burns, as well as her great grandchildren – Vinny, Alexis, and Trevor……with another due in early January.

We sure wish those littleist ones would have been able to know and enjoy our mom like we all have. We would like to thank Silivina Namosimalua, Dr. David Patella, the staff at Sunrise Senior Living in Fair Oaks, and Snowline Hospice for their loving care of Mom. We invite you to join us for a funeral mass to celebrate the life of Patricia Sparling Burns at St. John the Evangelist Church, 5751 Locust Avenue in Carmichael on Saturday, November 24th at 10 am.

Reception immediately following. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www. MountVernonMemorial.com for the Burns family.
