Patrick Collings, 57 of Norwalk left his loving family on June 12, 2018 after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. Pat was born on April 4, 1961. He was married to his wife Viki for 35 years and together they had 2 beautiful children.

Pat loved spending time with his family and friends. He set the bar for working hard. Pat mastered everything he attempted (except working on cars), with the motto do it right the first time.

He passed his work ethic down to his children who embraced it just like their Dad. Pat was very proud of his kids. His son was his hero and his daughter was his pride and joy.

He loved his grandchildren with all of his heart. They loved going on tractor rides with their Papa. He had a rough exterior but to his wife he was the kindest, most loving man on the face of the earth.

Pat was a man of great character and always spoke the truth. He was very smart and knew a little something about everything, thus he loved trivia games. He had a colorful sense of humor and could tell a story like no other.

Pat started his career doing wood refinishing and later joined the Carpenters Union. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and being outdoors on his acreage. Pat was an excellent pool player and very hard to beat, just ask his friends at the Brew Haus.

He was a diehard Iowa Hawkeyes and Vikings fan. He is survived by his wife, Viki; children, Andrew (Ashley) and Cindy (David) Nielsen; grandchildren, Emma, Audrey, Max and Theo; brother, Bill (Lorna); sister, Vicki (Bill); and niece, Camilla. He was preceded in death by his father, William Collings.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be at his home in Norwalk from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2018. The family would like to thank HCI Care Services for helping Viki carry out Pat’s request to remain at home during his final days. Memorial contributions may be directed to HCI Care Services 3000 Easton Boulevard Des Moines, IA 50317 or online at hcicareservices.org.
