OBITUARY Patsy Hansen Cook January 9, 1938 – October 10, 2018 Patsy Hansen Cook Patsy Hansen Cook was born on January 9, 1938 in Provo, Utah, to Henry and Mae Boardman Hansen. Patsy passed peacefully from this life on October 10, 2018, late at night, while she was sleeping. Patsy was surrounded by her husband, Jim Cook, and her two children, Brad Cook and Emilie Troxel.

Never was a woman so devoted to her family and friends. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed. To those who knew her best, it was said that they never heard her say a bad word about anyone.

Notwithstanding Patsy’s deep love and affection for her family and friends, a big part of Patsy’s heart was reserved for the many dogs that were her constant companions and confidants. Patsy was a graduate from BY High School. Patsy was a member of the Debonettes–she is still very close friends with each member of that group.

She also attended Brigham Young University where the Debonettes marched with the band. She subsequently married the love of her life, James R. Cook, on June 9, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of James Bradley Cook and Emilie Cook Troxel.

Patsy was an exquisite decorator. Her interior decorating, and the flowers in her yard, were always the showcase of her neighborhood. Her lasting legacy to us was the last bud of her rose bush that bloomed in the morning following her death.

Patsy loved playing tennis and traveling with her husband throughout the world. Jim and Patsy lived in many cities throughout the United States and Patsy made quick friends, all of whom will miss her loving demeanor and her easy-going personality. Patsy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints.

She served in many callings over the years–both in Ward and Stake Relief Society and Primary Presidencies. Patsy is survived by her husband, James R. Cook; her children, James Bradley (“Brad”) Cook, and Emilie Cook Troxel (Patrick); five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and her sister, Kathy Hansen Tolboe (Mike). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Michael Henry Cook; and, of course, her beloved dogs. A memorial service will be held at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 South Highland Drive Salt Lake City, Utah 84106, on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 11:00am. (Phone 801-466-8687).

Patsy’s inurnment will take place in the Cremation Garden on the grounds of the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. FAMILY James Cook, Husband James Bradley (Brad) Cook, Son Emilie (Patrick) Troxel, Daughter Kathy (Mike) Tolboe, Sister Patsy is also survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
