Patsy “Pat” Beatty, age 68, of Montague, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 in Muskegon. Pat was born July 14, 1950 in Muskegon, the daughter of Lester and Elsie (Lewis) Burmeister. She lived in the Montague area most of her life and graduated from Montague High School and Baker College.

She had also lived in Lansing for fifteen years. Pat was employed at Michigan State University’s Oceana Extension Office. She was a member of the Grand River Band of Ottawa Indians and was active in Indian affairs as chairperson of the Oceana County Inter-Tribal Council (Hart Pow-Wow) the Kateri Circle in Muskegon and in Indian Education.

Pat was also active in her church (St. James Catholic of Montague) in many different ministries, especially the quilting ministry and the pastoral council. She was the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary president. Pat loved to play cards.

She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and bowling. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Beatty and Lynette (Ian) Sias; special friend, Daddy Gary; grandchildren, Andrew Beatty, Willow Sias and River Sias; sisters, Margie Burmeister and Leslie (Dennis) DeNio; nieces and nephews, Anastasia DeNio, Destiny (Dakota) Gregory and Devon (and fiancé, Tristen) DeNio; and great-niece, Oulle Gregory. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation is Friday, March 8th, 4-8 pm with a Rosary Service at 7:30 pm at Harris Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Peter Omogo on Saturday, March 9th, 10 am at St. James Catholic Church in Montague. Interment will be in Otto Township Cemetery in the spring.
