Paul A. Lingard, 82, transitioned from this life and into the loving arms of God, July 5, 2018. He was born February 15th, 1936 to parents Celia (Smith) Lingard and Frank J. Lingard of Berwick Maine. He was the youngest of nine children, growing up on the family farm with siblings; Ray Smith Lingard (b.

1912), Effie Sarah Lingard (b. 1913), Elmer Ellis Lingard (b. 1915), Elva Alice Lingard (b.

1922), Frank G. Lingard (b. 1924), Flora Mary Lingard (b. 1926), Ivan Chester Lingard (b.

1929) and Celia Grace Lingard (b. 1932). All siblings have predeceased him.

Paul, an honor student, attended both grammar and high school in Berwick, Maine. After graduation, he attended Becker Junior College where he graduated with honors earning an Associate in Science Degree. He completed his college education with great distinction, accumulating numerous awards and distinctions, at Boston University, majoring in Journalism.

Successfully completing all course requirements, Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree, in June 1958. He was a member of the Sigma Delta Chi Professional Journalistic Fraternity. Only months after graduation, Paul, was inducted into military service where, upon testing, his intelligence and unique skill sets were identified.

He was selected to serve in the United Stated Air Force instead of the Army. Paul attended flight school, but again his analytical skill sets changed the course of his service as he was selected to serve using his skills in the new field of Computer Science, then in its infancy, where he excelled. After discharge from the military, Paul’s professional paths eventually lead him away from the field of Computer Science and into successful careers in Journalism and Advertising which he loved.

He worked on both coasts and was very successful working on and developing campaigns for several nationally and internationally known brands. Eventually, he took a break, purchasing and running, The White Dory, a guest house, in the popular summer resort of Provincetown, Massachusetts. After selling the guest house a number of years later, Paul eventually went on to establish his own business, specializing in corporate event planning, speech writing and the “ghost writing” of several books.

He was invited, at the request of the State Department and the Emir of Kuwait to construct a multimedia presentation depicting the history of Kuwait, for display in their national museum. The same presentation was also restored and updated after the first Gulf War. In his final professional years, Paul worked as a Project Manager for the MIT Enterprise Forum based at MIT, in Cambridge, MA.

He retired at the end of 2001. Paul’s retirement was spent in Ft. Lauderdale where he resided with his longtime partner and husband, Charles Robinson.

He was a much beloved member of Sunshine Cathedral, having served in the Hospitality Ministry. Paul is survived by his husband Charles Robinson, nieces Pamela Cooley (New Hampshire), Danna Cooley ( New Hampshire), Patricia Cooley Waldron (Missouri) and Brenda Daigle (Maine) along with many additional nieces and nephews too numerous to name. He is missed by all.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 4, 2018, 2:00 PM at MCC Sunshine Cathedral 1480 SW 9th Avenue Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33315-1375 A reception will follow in the Cathedral Social Hall.
