Paul Ansel Rowland, 86, of rural Macomb passed away at 12:10 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy. He was born on August 31, 1932 in Greenup County, Kentucky to Denzel and Nellie Musick Rowland. He married Carol Jean Caldwell on May 24, 1952 in Macomb.

She passed away on February 3, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three daughters, Paulette (Ric Smart) Wilson of Macomb, Penny (Jeff) Brown of Galesburg and Daphne (Mike) Thorman of Macomb; one son, Doug (Jen Derry) Rowland of Colchester; thirteen grandchildren, Scott Wilson, Olivia Wilson, Rachael Brown, Shana (Jim) Wade, Nick (Nicky) Brown, Jessica Thorman, Brent (Jessica) Thorman, Lucas Thorman, Courtney Thorman, Ryan Thorman, Kristin Rowland, Devin Rowland and Sarah Rowland; sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Paul lived most of his life in McDonough County where he worked as a feed salesman, drove a gas truck and farmed. He was an army veteran serving from December, 1952 to October, 1954 during the Korean War. Cremation rites have been accorded.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Wesley Village Community Center from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday December 15, 2018 . Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy.
