Paul Atkins, Jr., 84, of Sherrard, Illinois passed away at 8:02 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 in the Trinity Rock Island ICU. Visitation is Thursday, Sept.

6th from 5 – 7 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7:15 p.m., at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be left for the family. Paul was born October 25, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Paul Sr. and Marjorie Wood Atkins.

He was a 1951 graduate of Davenport Central High School. On April 15, 1955 he was united into marriage to Doris Lutz at the Central Presbyterian Church in Rock Island. Paul worked as a tool and die maker for Farmall, retiring after 30 years.

Paul was a well known as “The Music Man with the Microphone”, singing and playing the banjo and guitar. He performed at the river boats and Shakey’s for many years and belonged to Catfish Jazz. He was also a talented artist…loving to draw cartoons, write music and stories.

He enjoyed teaching music and drawing cartoons, especially to his daughter, Mindy and grandkids, Andrew and Alexis. Paul was an avid coin collector. He enjoyed fishing.

His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family. He will be missed by all. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Doris “Dori” Atkins, Sherrard; daughter: Mindy Wehrheim, Viola; grandchildren: Andrew and Alexis Wehrheim and his good friend: Jerry Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sons: Frank and Andy. Online condolences may be left at www. dennisonfuneralhome.com.
