Brother of Sue Kelly Obituary – Paul David Cross Paul David Cross, age 70, of Leon, Iowa, the son of Jack and Helen Louise (Hull) Cross, was born September 29, 1948, in Leon, Iowa. He died at Creston Specialty Care in Creston, Iowa on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. David grew up in Leon, Iowa, until the family moved to Aurora, Colorado when he was in junior high.

He graduated from Aurora Central High School in 1966. In April of 1968, he enlisted in the United States Army. … Read More » He served as a personnel clerk in Germany and Vietnam until his honorable discharge in December of 1970.

He then worked and attended Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado, graduating with a BA degree in 1981. David worked the night shift in advertising production for the Rocky Mountain News for 30 years before its closing. In 2014, he left Colorado to move to Leon, Iowa to be closer to his sister, Sue.

David was a private person and mostly kept to himself. Throughout his life, he loved photography and loved to watch car racing. He traveled across the United States and to Europe to attend car races and take photos of the events.

He also loved to read. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Martha Mulholland. Survivors include his sister, Sue Kelly and husband, Jerry, of Leon, Iowa; four nieces, Julie and Scott Berstler, Robin and Jerry Mattes, Carin and Shawn Curnew, and Amy Mulholland and companion, Michael; 10 great nieces and nephews; cousins, Dan and Judith Hull of Whitewater, Colorado, Larry and Linda Hull of Summerset, South Dakota, Shayne and Carolyn Hull of Louisville, Kentucky; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018, with Rev. Terry D. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

Memorials may be given to the National Kidney Foundation in David’s memory.
