Paul R. Ebbinghouse, 91, North Manchester, Indiana went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 12:30 p.m. on November 8th, 2018, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center. Paul was born August 6, 1927 in Huntington, IN, hospital to Elmer and Edythe (Fair) Ebbinghouse, and was their only child. Paul was a graduate from Laketon High School in 1945, where he enjoyed participating in the sport of track and field.
Paul spent a year of his life in the Merchant Marine in New York City, NY and on ships across the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. On August 27th, 1946, Paul married the love of his life Doris Brandenburg, in a parsonage in Knox, IN. Paul spent five years working at the Big Four Elevator, and from 1951 to 1962, was a ground floor molder of castings at the North Manchester Foundry.
Paul then became a co-owner and operator of the Central Air Company in North Manchester, and continued to perform installations and services to oil furnaces and central air systems. He continued to his hard working principles through a variety of other jobs in his retirement, after selling his business to Scott’s Landscaping. The Ebbinghouse’s took delight in the adventures and joys of traveling through New England, the State of Florida and to the sites of Western Colorado.
Paul’s favorite place visited in his travels was the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Along with traveling, Paul’s interests and hobbies included antique cars and the annual Auburn Car Show, church work, Sudoku puzzles, golfing, and the bountiful blessings from gardening. He was a member of the North Manchester Missionary Church, and lived a wonderful life.
He is proceeded by his Parents Elmer and Edythe Ebbinghouse. He will continue to live on in memory by his survivors, wife Doris Ebbinghouse, of North Manchester, his son Kenneth Duane (Carol) Ebbinghouse, of Fort Wayne, IN, and his daughter Joyce Ann (Paul) Drake, North Manchester, IN. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Amy and Aaron, Great-Grandchildren Nina and Jordan, as well as his Surrogate-Grandchildren Ethan and Logan McDonald.
Family and friends may call Monday, November 12, 2018, at 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St, North Manchester, IN. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm, and officiated by Pastor Ken Sistrunk of North Manchester Missionary Church. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley St, North Manchester, IN.
