Paul Edward Himes, Jr. of Frederick, Maryland August 22, 1928 – May 4, 2019 Mr. Paul E. “Pete” Himes Jr., 90, went home to his Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy, MD. He was the husband of Miriam C. Mercer Himes, his wife of almost 75 years.

Born August 22, 1928, in Mercersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Paul E. Himes, Sr. and Clara Flo (Carmack) Himes. Mr. Himes loved spending time with his family, especially at his famous summer Sunday cookouts by the pool. He loved decorating his home inside and out for the holidays.

At Christmas he adorned his property with thousands of Christmas lights. His home was fondly referred to as “Beacon Hill”. He worked for over 20 years at the National Guard Armory, Frederick.

He and his wife owned and operated Monocacy Floor and Window Cleaners until July 8, 2008. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ. He is survived by his loving wife and children, Paul Himes III, Paula Pendergraft and husband Robert, Miriam Long, Deborah Shores and husband Michael, and Treasa Jackson.

Grandchildren, Paul Himes IV and wife Barbara, Ronnie Himes and wife Suzanne, Claudia Himes-Barthmann and husband Peter, David Long and wife Kathy, Treasa Long and companion John Anderson, Dawn Harris and husband Todd, Lisa Whittington and husband Tom, Michelle Zeck and husband Jake, Melissa Harper, Ebonee Harper and companion Jeff Tedder, 27 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, David Himes and wife Wanda. He was preceded in death by his daughter Reba Jeanne, son-in-law David Long, granddaughter Anna Deater, great-granddaughter Britney Anderson, nephew David Himes Jr., and brothers Richard Himes and wife Juanita, and John Himes and wife Nancy.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, on Saturday, May 25, 2018 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Pastor Robert Apgar-Taylor, will officiate. Inurnment will be private at a later date.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Hospice of Frederick County for helping Debbie and Treasa keep him in his home as long as possible, and Kline Hospice House for the compassionate care during the last week of his life.
