Paul D. Steward, age 89 of Franklin, Ohio went on to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2019 while sleeping peacefully in the care of Hillspring of Springboro Healthcare Center and Rehabilitation. He was born June 3, 1929 to William Thomas Steward and Sadie Steward (born Tindall). Paul was the youngest of twelve children growing up on a farm in Clermont County, OH.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Safeguard (ARS-25) during WWII in the South Pacific theater. After the war he worked for ARMCO (AK Steel) for 35 years and retired but could not stay idle. He went on to serve his community by driving a school bus for Franklin City Schools for an additional 15 years when he retired.

During this time he served his church faithfully for many years as an usher and a pillar of faith. His legacy will live on in his beloved wife, Virgie Steward of Franklin, OH, his daughter Deborah (David) Hill of Springboro, OH, his son David (Pam) Steward of Carlisle, OH, his six grandchildren: Douglas (Michelle) Hill, Christy (Clint) Reffitt, Matthew (Amy) Steward, Andrew (Beth) Steward, John (Cheyenne) Steward, and Benjamin Steward, his nine great-grandchildren: Aly Hill, Zoe Hill, Keegan Hill, Emily Reffitt, Ethan Reffitt, Joshua Steward, Sarah Steward, Averyann Steward, Ellie Steward, Talen Robertson and one great-great-grandchild: Colestyn Conway, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father William Thomas Steward, his mother Sadie Steward, his brothers and sisters Allen Steward, Mary Ellen Steward, Roy Thomas Steward, Elsie Mae Steward, Cora Bell Steward, Henry Holland Steward, Irene Emaline Steward, Alice Lucille Steward, William Allen Steward, James Ralph Steward, and Elmer Lloyd Steward and his former spouse Phyllis Bair.

Paul will be remembered as a man of incredible character. As part of the Greatest Generation, he was a man of God, a man of honor, a family man, and a patriot. Visitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Homes, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin, OH 45005, on Tuesday May 7, 2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on May 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Roger Mullins officiating. Burial in Springboro Cemetery. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Paul Steward please visit our Sympathy Store.
