Paula Lopez, age 86, of Shelby, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at home. She was born June 17, 1933 in Donna, Texas, the daughter of Juan and Rosa (Trevino) Lopez. Paula came to Shelby from Texas a young child.

She was employed at Bob Bull’s cherry farm, Oceana Canning Company for many years, Tempotech in Hart, and worked for the Fox family. She enjoyed taking care of her flower gardens. Paula would do anything for anybody and often did without to help others in their time of need.

Paula is survived by her children, Gabriel (Karla) Perez, Stella Perez, Roger Perez, Ben (Penny) Perez, Carmen (Gary) Hovey, Angela Lopez and Lupe Lopez; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Porfirio (Julia) Lopez; sisters, Tina (David) Silva, Sally Rincones and Rosemary (John) Paullus. Paula was preceded in death by her son, Javier Perez; her daughter, Olivia Belmarez; granddaughter, Amanda Perez; sisters, Phyllis Cantu, Luisa Vela, Erminia Andrew and Inez Parker; and her brothers, Ysabel Lopez, Epifanio “Fonzi” Lopez and Raul Lopez. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 7th, Noon until 3 pm and Friday, February 8th, 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

The rosary will be recited Friday evening at the funeral at a time to be determined. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 9th, 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Shelby. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Shelby in the spring.
