Paula (Berun) Skomorowski passed peacefully at home on February 28, 2019 after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s. Paula was born in Poland on June 10, 1926 but her beloved America, the country that gave her a home as a refugee after WWII, became the country she embraced and where she proudly raised her family. She will be remembered for her unforgettable cooking, love for her family and her affinity for long walks.

Paula leaves her husband of 68 years, Charles Skomorowski. She is survived by her son Christopher Skomorowski, his wife Lisa of Simsbury and treasured granddaughter Kelsey of Boston, MA; daughter Barbara Skomorowski of West Hartford; and her cherished grandchildren: Jeff and Alisa O’Brien of Cleveland, OH, Chris Peck and Kyla Burke-Lazarus of San Francisco, CA and Brian Peck of Ventura, CA. Friends may visit at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave.

, West Hartford on Thursday (March 7) from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
