Mrs. Peggy Ann McAvoy Vandiver, 78, entered into rest October 13, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Vandiver was a lifelong resident of Washington, Georgia, the daughter of the late William Thomas McAvoy and the late Florence Tucker McAvoy. She retired as a Billing Clerk from Rayle EMC with 40 years of service.

Mrs. Vandiver had taught Sunday School at Sandy Cross Baptist Church in years past and she was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling cooking, and entertaining. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vandiver was predeceased by brothers, Mitchell McAvoy and Marvin McAvoy.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, Vernon L. “Buddy” Vandiver; daughter, Kathy Garrison of Social Circle, GA; brother, Billy McAvoy (Gloria) of Washington, GA; grandchildren, Danielle Garrison and Jordan Garrison, great grandchildren, Koley Flanders, Keegan Flanders, and Kylie Flanders; and her care-giver, Mary Hyche. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018, at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Barry McAvoy and Rev.

Roy Cates officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, Washington. Pallbearers will be Sam Bradley, Jerry Walker, David Cooper, Dr. Danny McAvoy, Josh Morris, Jordan Garrison.

Honorary pallbearers will be retired Employees of Rayle EMC. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Service Organization of Fishing Creek Baptist Church, c/o Gloria Ware, 156 Sandtown Rd.
