Perry Joseph Hairsine Jr. passed away on September 12, 2018, at the age of 72 years. A native of Baltimore City, Perry joined the United States Navy in 1964 at the age of 17. During his time in the military he crossed the Equator and received the National Defense Service Medal.

Upon his honorable release from the United States Navy he transferred to the Naval Reserve where he served proudly until 1970. Perry loved to work; never working less than two jobs at a time. Sitting idle was not his forte.

In the early years after his discharge from the military he had many short-term jobs with the intent to find his niche. In 1973 he found his place in the Baltimore City Fire Department, Truck 1. Although a rewarding career and one he is most proud of, it was just not quite enough to keep him satisfied.

So, in between fighting fires and pulling people out of the Inner Harbor he was also running his own home improvement business. After 20 years in the Baltimore City Fire Department he retired and dedicated his time fully to his home improvement business where he believed in quality service and work that highlighted his strong work ethic. However, in true Perry form, when an opportunity was presented to him to own and operate his own bar restaurant he just could not turn it down and thus the Purple Good Saloon was born.

There are some great, unforgettable, memories there where old friends gathered and new lasting relationships were cultivated. Perry was not all work though. He had many other interests that he pursued in his spare time.

He enjoyed traveling, playing pool and darts; going to the casinos with his friends; and let’s not forget football. But his greatest interest was his family and friends that he took great pride in and denied little. Unknowingly, he was a great mentor to many.

He had a huge place in his heart for his dogs and never gave up an opportunity to tell a story of their antics. Perry will be forever remembered by his wife Charlotte, and their children, Pamela (Ron) and Michelle (Scott), by his grandchildren Aaron, Tylr, Kara, and Jordon, and by his brothers and sisters John, Agnes (Raymond), Doris (Doug), and Regina (Roy). Perry will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents Perry and Agnes, his brother Robert, and his granddaughter Samantha. Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road (PASADENA) on Tuesday September 18, 2018 from 3 to 7 PM. Where a military service will be held at 5 PM.

Interment Private.
