Obituary for Peter Anthony Couvall It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Couvall announces his passing at the age of 73. Peter was preceded in death by his wife Donna Edwards Couvall; his son, Jonathan Couvall; and his parents, Anthony and Georgia Couvall. He is survived by his son Anthony Peter and siblings, Edna Mitchell, Theresa Karigan, Theofane Patterson, Loverne Couvall, Patricia (Nick) Rendziperis, George (Jackie) Couvall, and James (Janet) Couvall.

Peter will also be forever missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and dear friends. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He had a kind and loving heart filled with enthusiasm and devotion and was first to offer a hand to help those who were in need.

Peter was born on December 23, 1944 in Waukegan, Illinois. He graduated North Chicago High School in 1962 and attended Loras College and The University of Dubuque. He had a long-standing career in the hospitality industry which included owning and operating Little Red Hen Chicken Restaurant and managing The Red Balloon Restaurants in Deerfield and Des Plaines where he met his wife, Donna.

His most notable position was the General Manager of the Playboy Club in Chicago and Dallas. He will be remembered for his strong devotion to his wife, sons, the church and his love for politics. He was married to his loving wife, Donna for 45 years.

Nothing made him happier than the day each of his boys were born and the special bond that he had with each of them. One of Pete’s great passions was his faith. He loved the church and was a devoted parish council member for 17 years and served as the board president for 10 of those years at Saint Demetrio’s Greek Orthodox Church.

His love for politics was profound. He was an enthusiastic and empowered member of the Lake County Democratic party, where he served as the First Vice Chairman of the Party and Committeeman for the 349th precinct. Pete loved anything to do with politics whether he was recruiting candidates, mentoring candidates or putting up and taking down political yards signs, pete was happy and fulfilled.

He was an avid reader of biography, autobiography, and all political books and like nothing more than a robust political conversation. He will be profoundly missed by his best friend’s senator Terry Link and Susan Link. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at THE MEMORIAL CHAPEL OF WAUKEGAN 1521 Washington St. Waukegan, Trisagion service will be at 6:00 PM.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1400 N. O’Plaine Rd. , Libertyville, Illinois. Interment at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago.
