OBITUARY Phil Killough June 5, 1942 – October 1, 2018 Phil was born on June 5, 1942 to his parents, Earl and Deen (LeMay) Killough, in Baird, Texas. He was through and through a native Texan. At an early age, the family moved to Kermit, Texas, then to Wickett, Texas.

He attended Monahans High School; Monahans, Texas, joining the United States Army in 1961. He was a radio operator, serving in Germany for 3 years. Phil married Betty Jean Goodson on Augusta 21, 1964 in Reno, Nevada.

They became the proud parents of Phillip Curtis Killough II. Phil and Betty made their first home in Martinez, California where Phil worked for Hallmark Industries. They moved to Turlock, CA where he worked for Varco-Pruden, manufacturing material for the BART system in California.

This experience led to other manufacturing jobs and even to selling cars before landing in Martinez, Georgia in 1979. He and Betty have been a part of this community, raising their son and making many friends through the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he was a member in good standing. For several years, Phil was employed by Club Car, Inc., where he was involved in production control and purchasing.

He bought American Lenders of Augusta in 1987 and hired Betty in 1988. They ran this successful business until 2004, when they retired. After retirement, Phil enjoyed camping,traveling, honey do’s and time spent on Clarks Hill Lake.

He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and cheered them on wherever they played. He always kept his family together and they called Phil their “Glue” that held them together. Phil was a Christian and attended Trinity Baptist Church of Martinez, Georgia.

Survivors include: wife, Betty Killough of Martinez, GA; son, Phillip(Dawn) Killough II of Martinez, GA; Ron (Sharon) Killough of Bandon, OR; sister, Brenda (Chuck) Helmka of Georgetown, TX; brother-in law, James (Gail) Goodson of Bloomington, IN and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding Phil in death were his parents, Earl and Deen Killough and his brother, Stan Killough. The family will receive friends at 2 PM, Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service with military honors will follow at 3 PM.
