Philip’s Obituary Philip J. Joseph, 95, of Elizabethtown, PA passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019. Born on April 17, 1924 in Easton, he was a son of the late Barbour and Rose (Koury) Joseph. He was the widower of Arlette (Fredrick) Joseph.

Philip is survived by his step-daughter, JoLee Boehmer and her husband Jack Boehmer. He is survived by nieces and nephews: Barbara Barakat and her husband George of Sydney, Australia; Robert Budway and wife Cindy of Hope, Rhode Island; Thomas Badway and wife Leslie of Mashpee, Massachusetts; Charlene Symia, Roseann Joseph, both of Easton, PA; Noelle Richardson and husband Mark of Bethlehem, PA; Robert Shiner and wife Sandra of Nazareth, PA. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Edward J. Joseph, Mary Badway, Louis Joseph, Naomi Shiner and Joanna Joseph; nephews Charles Badway Jr. and Elias Symia.

Philip graduated from Easton High School, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bloomsburg State Teacher’s College (now University), and a Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina. Philip served as a clerk in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He worked in the Pennsylvania government in the Department of Health, Office of Administration, and as a personal assistant for four Governors – David L. Lawrence, George M. Leader, Raymond P. Shafer, and Milton Shapp.

After leaving the Governors’ Office in 1966, he worked as the Personnel Director for the Liquor Control Board of the Commonwealth of PA before retiring. A calling hour will be held Thursday 9:30am-10:30am in Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church 4th and Ferry St. in Easton with the Prayer of The Incense at 10:30am. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00am.

Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Church or to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www. stjude.org in memory of Philip Joseph.
