Obituary of Philip Joseph Sementilli Philip Sementilli, Sr., age 85, of Big Flats, New York, died Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Phil was born on October 7, 1933 in Corning, NY, the son of Vincenzo and Margherita (Sorge) Sementilli. He married Leona Aumick on February 15, 1958.

Phil graduated from CFA and from Niagara University. He and his brother, Angelo, owned and operated Jimmy’s Restaurant in Corning from 1963 to 1983, taking over the business started by their father in 1930. Phil remained a presence on Market Street as a City of Corning employee until 2000.

In retirement, he enjoyed hosting family gatherings, spending time with his grandchildren, and practicing his faith as a Eucharistic Minister at Founders Pavilion and St. Patrick’s Church. He is survived by his wife, Leona Sementilli; daughters: Deborah (Thomas) Coles of New Port Richey, FL, Linda (Mike) Shock of Corning, NY, Lisa (Mike) Mallecoccio of Erin, NY, Gina (Paul) Stacey of Baldwinsville, NY and Theresa (Kofi) Bonner of Somerville, NJ; sons: Philip (Katherine) Sementilli, Jr. of Tucson, AZ and Stephen (Ann) Sementilli of Williamsville, NY; sister, Mary Orr of Suwanee, GA; brother, Vincent Sementilli of Corning, NY; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Philip was predeceased by his brother, Angelo Sementilli, and his parents.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday March 13, 2019 at 9:30AM at St. Mary’s Church, 155 State Street, Corning, NY, with Father Matthew Jones officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints Parish, 222 Dodge Avenue, Corning, NY 14830 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Gifts P.O. Box 1000, Dept.

142 Memphis, TN 38148.
