Mr. Phillip D. Rushing, age 62 of Belk, passed away November 23, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center. A visitation for Mr. Rushing will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at Nelson Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Jewel Rushing, sister: Olean Gunter, brother: Johnny Rushing, and nephew: Sammy Rushing.

He is survived by his wife: Donna Rushing, one sister: Barbara Jo Pounders, sister-in-law: Lona Rushing, and seven nieces and nephews. His life was his work. He worked at Georgia Pacific for forty two years.

He was a quiet person with not a lot to say unless you wanted to talk about Alabama Football. He loved nothing more than to put on that red suit and hat and watch the magic in children’s eyes. His favorite gospel song was “Go Rest High On That Mountain”.

Phillip you are on that mountain now. Your heart his healed and you are no longer in pain or suffering. We are going to miss you.

The family will have a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the American Heart Association or buy a gift for a child in need this holiday season.
