Gaston – Mrs. Phyllis Dawn Porter, 81, went to be with her husband of. 49 years, Monday, December 10th, 2018. Mrs. Phyllis is the mother of Pamela “Pam” (David Raines) Porter of Pelion, Kimberly “Kim” Porter of Pelion, and Michael “Mike” (Cherie) Porter of St. Augustine, FL.

She had 9 grandchildren, Melissa (Jamie) Rucker Corley, Gloria Dawn (George) Newby Mills, Amanda Hunycutt Richardson, Amy Shantel (Kristen) Sanders Davis, John Tyler Sanders, Dylan V. Porter, Courtney Marie (Adam) Porter Snipes, Kayla Dyer, and Eric Brakefield; and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Phyllis was the sister of Vanta “Von” (Carol) Queen of Jacksonville, FL, and Linda Jean (Dallas) Queen Staten of Delbarton, WV. Mrs. Phyllis was born in Logan County, West Virginia to the late Sylvester Queen and the late Velvia George.

Her step parents were the late Carroll Hune Marsh and the late Virginia Marsh. She worked in Electronics and cleaning Mortuaries before moving south. Mrs. Phyllis worked as a waitress and then worked with Helping Hands of Columbia as a caregiver.
