SAUGUS-Phyllis June (Daigle) Burke was born on June 25, 1927 and passed away on March 3, 2019. She was the wife of the late Albert “Bud” V. Burke, Jr. with whom she was married for 53 years when he passed away September 28, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Placide J. and Martha A. Perkins Daigle, the youngest of their six children; Doris, Irene, William, Richard, Donald, and Phyllis.

After graduating from Lynn English High School in 1945, she married Albert “Bud” Burke on August 7, 1948 in a small ceremony at her parents’ home on Fay’s Avenue in Lynn. Phyllis’ mom taught her to sew. Over the years she sewed many of her clothes.

Her sewing room possessed almost every color of thread to match any fabric. After becoming a Jehovah’s Witness in 1976, Phyllis grew in her faith and knowledge of the Bible developing a deeper faith and close relationship with her church brothers and sisters. Phyllis became a resident of Sunrise Senior Living on July 22, 2010 enjoying two years.

She moved to Chestnut Woods on October 25, 2012 where she received loving care from the staff. She is survived by five nephews and four nieces; Susan Sprague McCutcheon & her husband Henry, Richard Sprague, Robert Sprague & his wife Paula; Ken Beaton & his wife Lin Nary, Douglas Beaton, Judith Beaton Shamlian & her husband Andy, Cynthia Beaton Ramsay; Diane Daigle Etchie & her husband Gene and David Daigle & his wife Sandi. Phyllis would like you to remember, “Today is a gift, that is why we call it the present”.

SERVICE INFORMATION A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall 6 Kingdom Way, Saugus. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Phyllis Burke, please visit our Tribute Store.
