Pierina Scialla, 97 years, formerly of North Plainfield, passed away on January 6, 2019 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater, NJ surrounded by her family. Pierina was born in Liberi Caserta, Italy on June 29, 1921. In 1955, she and her husband settled in Plainfield where they raised their 3 children.
The family moved to North Plainfield in 1971. Pierina is predeceased by her husband Paolo Scialla in July 2001 and brother Dominick Lombardi. Surviving are two sons Anthony Scialla and his wife Celia of Pipersville, PA, Carmen Scialla and his wife Gina of Ringoes, NJ, daughter Sylvia Schultz and her husband William of Whitehouse Station, NJ .
Pierina was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and two nieces. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph RC Church on Thursday January 10, 2019 at 10:00 AM followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visiting hours will take place on Wednesday January 9, at Scarpa Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and Thursday 8:30 am – 9:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Pierina’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
